RANDY SEXTON
Director of Amateur Scouting

  • In his first season as director of amateur scouting
  • Spent the previous 2 seasons as co-director of amateur scouting
  • Oversees amateur scouting in North America and Europe
  • Prior to his current role, spent 3 seasons as assistant director of amateur scouting for Penguins from 2010-13
  • Served 2 stints as NHL general manager for Florida and Ottawa
  • Was Florida’s general manager for 2009-10 season, overseeing pro and amateur scouting, player development, hockey administration and all contract negotiations
  • Served 2 seasons as Florida’s assistant general manager from 2007-09 before being promoted
  • Worked 8 seasons with Ottawa (1988-96) in various capacities, including president, CEO and general manager
  • Under Sexton’s leadership, Ottawa achieved enormous success and profitability in all areas of hockey and business operations
  • 1 of 3 founders of the Ottawa Senators franchise, which entered the league in 1992
  • Spent 3 years as executive director of Capital Sports Management Inc. (CSMI), a sister company to the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club
  • While with Capital Sports Management Inc., provided strategic analysis and advice to the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club
  • Served as assistant coach with St. Lawrence from 1983-85
  • Handled scouting and recruiting responsibilities for St. Lawrence
  • Earned Master’s Degree in business administration from Clarkson University

PLAYING CAREER

  • Played 4 seasons at St. Lawrence from 1978-82
  • Served as team captain in final 2 seasons
  • Earned several accolades in his collegiate career, including All-American honors, Senior Male Athlete of the Year, team MVP and Brian P. Doyle Leadership Award
